Karol G began her public activity around 2007, after appearing as a teenager on a Colombian talent show and releasing early singles; a few years later she signed with a major and, in 2017, broke through with “Ahora Me Llama” featuring Bad Bunny, which placed her squarely on the reggaeton and Latin pop map. She became known for blending reggaeton, Latin trap, and pop with a clear through-line of female empowerment and heartbreak, and for taking an active songwriting role. Between 2017 and 2019 she built momentum through collaborations and constant touring, laying the groundwork for her biggest commercial era.

Global lift-off arrived in 2019 with “Tusa,” her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, which dominated charts across the Americas and Europe and turned the Colombian slang “tusa” into a cultural marker. In 2021 she released “KG0516,” topping Top Latin Albums and underscoring her stylistic range. In 2022 she followed with “MAMIII” alongside Becky G and “Provenza,” both major streaming and radio drivers. Her strategy of openly credited, on-camera collaborations and consistent large-venue shows secured an international base that no longer hinged on a single hit.

In 2023 she released “Mañana Será Bonito,” debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (the first all-Spanish album by a woman to do so) and expanding her reach with “TQG” featuring Shakira. The album later won Album of the Year at the Latin Grammys, and in February 2024 she earned the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album. In parallel, she hit live milestones: headlining Lollapalooza Chicago in August 2023 as the festival’s first Latina headliner and staging a stadium tour across the Americas that confirmed her draw beyond the Latin circuit.

Beyond the studio and stage, she widened her palette with Tiësto on 2021’s “Don’t Be Shy,” exploring English-language dance-pop, and made her acting debut in Netflix’s 2024 series “Griselda” (role: Carla). In 2025 she remains highly active on social platforms and in philanthropy via the Con Cora Foundation, focused on programs for women and girls.
