Paloma Mami

Paloma Mami is the daughter of Chilean parents. She grew up between New York and Chile and became one of the most distinctive voices in Latin urban music with R&B and pop DNA. Her international breakthrough came in 2018 with the single «Not Steady,» a Spanglish track that sent her elegant and melodic approach viral. That same year, she signed with Sony Music Latin, becoming the first Chilean artist to land such a contract with the label, a milestone that immediately placed her on the global map.

Although she was born in the United States, she frequently travels and performs in Chile for reasons that are part of her artistic and family identity: her parents are Chilean—Jorge Luis Castillo and Andrea Miriam Astorga Valdivia, originally from Doñihue—and she moved to Santiago at the age of 16 to launch her career. Furthermore, she has been registered as a Chilean born abroad since 2005, which explains her dual cultural identity and her permanent connection with the Chilean public. Even her alias «Paloma Mami» was born during that school year, inspired by an Instagram reference from Drake.

Her professional debut came in 2018 with a brief appearance on Rojo (TVN); she left the show due to contractual differences and opted for an independent career. Days before joining TV, she had released «Not Steady» with a home video shot in a Santiago parking lot; the phenomenon caught the attention of Miami A&R experts and led to a historic signing with Sony. She closed that year with «No te enamores» (No te enamores) (DJ Luian & Mambo Kingz). In 2019, she released «Fingías» and broke ratings records as the most-watched single on the Lollapalooza Chile television broadcast, consolidating her position as a new figure in urban music in the country.

In 2020, she expanded her range with «Goteo,» «For Ya,» and her collaboration with Major Lazer on «QueLoQue.» That same season, her song «Don’t Talk About Me» was included on the Bad Boys for Life soundtrack, reinforcing her presence in the English-speaking market. This period culminated with her debut album, Sueños de Dalí, released on March 19, 2021. This bilingual, conceptual project, featuring producers such as Hit-Boy, Tainy, and El Guincho, was presented on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Following her debut, she achieved her first multiple Billboard entry with «Qué Rico Fuera» featuring Ricky Martin (June 2021), reaching #1 in Chile and the top 10 in several Latin American countries. In 2022, she participated in the remix of «ULTRA SOLO» alongside Polimá Westcoast, Pailita, Feid, and De La Ghetto, and in 2023, she performed at the Viña del Mar Festival, where she received a standing ovation and was awarded the Silver and Gold Gaviota. These milestones confirmed her popularity in Chile and her regional expansion.

In her new era (2024-2025), she released singles such as «DOSiS» (with Marcianeke and ITHAN NY), «Mi KAMA,» «HAKiA,» and «ASTROS.» In addition, in July 2025, her signing with Double P Management (George Prajin) was announced, strengthening her global development. On July 11, 2025, she released her second album, CÓDiGOS DE MUÑEKA, with eleven tracks that deepen her R&B/reggaeton/trap fusion and a «muñeka» aesthetic with anime nods. Apple Music highlighted her creative control and experimental phase. The album includes high-profile collaborations—among them Rauw Alejandro and Pablo Chill-E—and marked her return to the Latin American digital charts.

At the brand and pop culture level, she has been the face of H&M x Moschino and Pepsi, and in 2021 she presented a collection with Bershka, moves that expanded her impact beyond music without shifting the focus from her catalog. Musically, her signature style is Latin R&B with sweeping melodies, Spanglish lyrics, and polished production, a mix that has racked up billions of streams and has opened doors for her on high-profile stages.
