Natalia Nagovitsina

Natalia Nagovitsina was a renowned Russian mountaineer who began climbing in 2016 and quickly stood out for the intensity of her expeditions and the physical and mental endurance she demonstrated on each ascent. She reached more than thirty summits, including some of the most challenging in Central Asia, such as Mount Elbrus and the formidable Peak Pobeda, considered one of the most dangerous in the world due to its extreme conditions. Her career was marked by a constant drive to push boundaries and face high-altitude environments that demand exceptional technique, discipline, and courage.

Her name became linked to one of the most tragic episodes in recent mountaineering, when in August 2025 she suffered an accident during the descent of Peak Pobeda and became stranded at high altitude. Despite multiple rescue attempts and the solidarity of fellow climbers and international rescuers, severe weather conditions prevented her from being saved. Her story became a symbol of the harshness of high-altitude climbing, remembered both for her indomitable spirit and for the dramatic struggle she endured in the mountains until the end.
